Barbara Kanam is a singer from the Democratic Republic of Congo. She studied in international business and started her music career in 1991. With the help of the producer Kone, she came out with her debut album called “MOKILI” which earned her a nomination in the Kora Awards.
Her second album “TETI” was released in 2003 and it thrust her into the international spotlight. She received the KORA AWARD for best most promising young musician in 2003, the KUNDE for the best female in Central Africa in Ouagadougou (2004), the TAMANI (Mali-Bamako) for best most promising young musician in Central Africa in Bamako (2004). Her hit single 'BIBI MADELEINE' was produced by Kiki Touré with the help of Edgar YONKEU in 2005.
Under her own label, Kanam Music, she released her third album, Karibu (Swahili for welcome) in 2009. Album was produced by Kiki Toure.
